Nespresso Lattissima Coffee Maker Review

The Lattissima takes Nespresso's one-touch brewing to a new level. It can make lungo and espresso in under an hour, and can accept an array of capsules from the company.

It is also simple to reprogram the machine to brew the exact size beverage you require. This is a great feature for busy families.

Simple to use

The basic black Nespresso machine is easy to operate and maintain. It is minimalist and simple in its design, with just one button on the top that controls everything from powering to cleaning to the brewing process. Simply remove the lid, place in the capsule and click to start brewing. It's quick to heat up and offers numerous drink options, including double-shot espressos or a 5 8 or 18-ounce cup of coffee. It even comes with a steaming wand that can be used for making a delicious milk texture for your drinks. Although we like its simple interface and compact size but we did find that the machine didn't perform better than more expensive models in making rich-tasting coffee and espresso. It's also not as easy to recycle capsules like other machines we tested. For these reasons, this Nespresso isn't the best choice for our side-byside test.

Quick to brew

The Nespresso machine makes a cup of coffee in around 15 seconds. The hot water from the reservoir flows through a pump and through small holes on the top of the coffee pod. The water then mixes with the ground coffee, and drips into the cup. The machine created an extremely rich, delicious espresso with a slight hint of bite when we tried it with Jones Brothers and Bestpresso coffee capsules. We tested almond, whole and 2% milks, and all worked well.

Easy to clean

Cleaning of a Nespresso machine is crucial both inside and out. This will keep the machine in good order and ensure its safety. This also improves the taste of your coffee. You can clean your Nespresso with a variety cleaners which include vinegar. It is however recommended to make use of a descaling solution instead, as vinegar could be harmful to the machine.

To clean your Nespresso machine take out all capsules. Clean the drip tray and capsule container. Fill a sink with warm water, and add a few drops of dish soap. Let the drip tray and container soak in the soapy water for some time to remove gunk and stains. Rinse them with hot water, and then use a non-abrasive sponge or cloth to scrub away any residues or stains. After scrubbing, rinse the drip tray and capsule container and let them dry completely before returning them to the machine.

After  sources tell me  has been cleaned, it is time to descale. Follow the steps in your user manual to perform a specific procedure. In other cases, you can make a DIY descaling solution by using white vinegar or citric acid. If you are using vinegar, be sure that it is white vinegar, not apple or balsamic, as they are too aggressive.
